    Description

This is a stained glass piano window from the 1880s salvaged from a residence in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood.  This window was hidden in a wall and dry-walled over and was found during deconstruction of the building.  Suffice it to say that it needed some restoration to correct severe bowing and some broken joints in the lead caming.  Glass is in excellent condition and there is only one hairline crack on a yellow textured piece as shown in the photos.  This crack could be covered with a leaf lead, but I elected to leave it alone as it does not affect the integrity of the window in any way.  What makes this window so unique is the rare center jewel that is three dimensional.  Overall dimension is 21 1/2”w x 16”h x 1 1/2” thick, Glass only measurement is 16 ¾”w x 11 ½”h. Frame is original and has had the lead based painted sanded off.  It has been painted a rich graphite color and then waxed to a satiny sheen.
