Description

Gorgeous antique sewing stand by an earlier incarnation of the Heywood & Wakefield Co., known as the Wakefield Rattan Co.  Heywood Wakefield started out in the mid 1800s as the Wakefield Rattan Company (1855-1897) and the Heywood Brothers & Company (1868-1897)The top of the stand is basket shaped with interior storage, a hinged lid, and a handle.  It has the typical curlicues common to Heywood Wakefield pieces. It has an open shelf below. It's in natural original finish. The stand retains the original  label although it's a bit hard to read. The stand is in very good condition for the age and delicacy of the design, but has a few little breaks here and there (not super noticeable, unless you examine it). There are two spots where the curlicue accents are off. One of these and a part of one are in the lidded basket top. The stand measures 27" tall (not counting the handle being raised) about 14 1/2" wide, and about 11 1/2" from front to back. Extraordinary example! Local pick up is best, but you are more than welcome to arrange your own shipping, if desired.
