    Description

To serve the Eastern coast of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia, as well as to provide a shorter and more direct route to Miami, Florida, an important terminus of Foreign Air Mail (FAM) routes, effective April 1, 1931, the Eastern Seaboard branch route was established connecting on the north with the main route at Richmond, Virginia, and on the south at Jacksonville, Florida. Raleigh, North Carolina, Florence and Charleston, South Carolina, and Savannah, Georgia were intermediate stops.
On April 1, Contract Air Mail Route 25 was officially discontinued and combined with this route to form a new consolidated route known as Contract Air Mail Route 19 between New York and Miami.
    This cover was
carried on the inaugural Contract Air Mail Route 19 flight from Charleston, South Carolina to Florence, South Carolina and is listed in the Contract Air Mail Flights (CAM) Section of The American Air Mail Catalogue as 19N23.
