LOT OF 50 .00 RACG ILLEGAL CASINO CHIPS POLLARD'S PLACE METAIRE LOUISIANA

Description

This is a lot of 50 very rare seldom seen illegal casino chips from Pollard's Place Metaire Louisiana. The chips are hot stamped the same on both sides. They are all in excellent condition.
Here is some information on these rare chips which Ed Hertel an authority on illegal casino chips which he was kind enough to send me::

Interesting chip here, and still some unknown questions on this one.  The chips were ordered by “Garland Pollard, Jefferson Parish, LA” in 1961.  In this year, Garland Pollard applied for a gambling stamp for the address 517 Pink in Metairie, Louisiana.  This is the same address that applied for a liquor license in 1959 and another gambling stamp in 1958.  Looking it up, the place is residential, but obviously in late 1950s-60s it was being used as a bookmaking joint that served beer.  There were other gambling stamp applications made for the 517 Pink address by other people as well.  The initials on the chip is still a mystery.  Something like “R – A – C – G” to me denoted the initials of the partners in the operations, but only Garland fits any of the other guys – Patrick Barnes & Salvadore Decedue.  Also a mystery is the actual name of the place.  Like many of these operations, there was really no need for an official “branding” of the place.  It’s not listed in directories and there certainly was no sign out front. They were known to their clientele only.  I’ll probably put them as “Pollard’s Place” as a temporary name until I find more.  Pollard moved the Dallas in 1963 and went into real estate, however, FBI records show he was still in the bookie business being bankrolled by Dallas gamblers.
