Description
Black Americana - Rare Essay by Prof. Kelly Miller Howard University 1907. Essay titled "Roosevelt and The Negro" written by Kelly Miller (1863-1939) who was an American mathematician, sociologist, essayist, newspaper columnist, author, and important figure in the intellectual life of black America. He was known around Washington, DC as "the Bard of the Potomac". This essay provides a keen analysis of President Roosevelt, his philosophy and an interpretation of his attitude toward the Negro. This essay was published through Howard University around August 31, 1907 and given to the first owner on October 23, 1907. I have no idea how many of these were published nor how many remain. It is a piece of Black American history that belongs in a collection. This essay was discovered when filtering through an estate of a family member. All pages are intact with no rips or tears, and includes an envelope addressed to Kelly Miller that is sealed, but appears to be empty. There is also an introduction from Kelly Miller that is loose by design. Two small corners on the front cover are missing. The front cover shows the note of receipt from Prof. Kelly Miller and seems to have a drop of ink from when it was received in 1907. The back cover provides a list of Monographs already written by Kelly Miller. Condition is "used". Shipped via USPS First Class Mail.
