Atrophaneura horishana , a.k.a. the aurora swallowtail , is a species of butterfly from the family Papilionidae that is found in Taiwan ( Formosa ).
First named and described by Japanese entomologist Shonen Matsumura ( 1872 - 1960 ) in the year 1910.
It is found in forests of elevation about 1/2 to 1 1/2 miles elevation.
Atrophaneura horishanus has been ranked as a subspecies of Atrophaneura nox.
