SCARCE OLD 1814 LOWER CANADA, CANADIAN / USA, AMERICAN EAGLE HALF PENNY TOKEN!

Description

Offered is an ever-popular post-1825 (antedated 1814) 'Eagle' token, with small shield reverse, CH#LC-54C2. This piece bears above-average detail for the type, as well as a most appealing, original patina. Of note is that although these tokens circulated extensively in Lower Canada, they were in fact issued by an American merchant named Nye, who operated out of Phillipsburg, NJ, and as such, also circulated in the N-E United States.
