    Description

Stephen Burrows is still incredibly relevant in fashion,
50 plus years after his first showing in 1968.
Working with flowing fabrics of the 70s, he designed for much of the Studio 54 crowd in the heydey.
He was the first African-American designer to win the coveted Coty award, and he did it three times.
In 1973, he was one of six American designers chosen to show in Paris against five of the upper-
    crust
Parisian designers who never felt that American designers had any relevance at all. If you EVER get
the chance, watch the documentary, "The Battle at Versailles" which you can find on You Tube. Along
with Anne Klien, Bill Blass, Donna Karan, Halston and Oscar de la Renta (yes, he was an American
designer), Mr. Burrows' collection of sherbert colored fitted flounce dresses was Very well received.
Should you wonder, the French competitors were Yves St. Laurent, Pierre Cardin, Emanuel Ungaro,
Marc Bohan & Hubert de Givenchy. It is also referred to in the just released Netflix 5 part series Halston-
created by Ryan Murphy (genius) and played absolutely brilliantly by Scottish actor Ewan McGregor.
    Anyway...
This fabulous gown is a masterpiece in the art of draping. The fabric is phenomenal and works so well
with the architectual ease of Mr. Burrows creations; they are not simple at all, but are worn without any
fuss or difficulty. With no closure, the dress slips over the head, and once positioned evenly at the bust,
you need never be concerned. It will fit perfectly and flatter incredibly. The color is the hardest for me to
show true. Please forgive my first attempts at shooting photos outdoors. Self taught, I will need to practice
with shadows and sun times to perfect my listings. The truest color is seen in photo 11. The outdoor
    shots
show a brilliant Pink, it is actually a bit softer. A collector's wearable dream.
