    Description

Vintage (1930s?) Souvenir Tea Bell. Measures approximately 4” tall to the top of figure's head. The turned wooden handle is black with a metal bell and clap, linked with a copper "s" hook. This doll / bell has a hand painted face with smiling red mouth, nose and open eyes.
She is  wearing a red and white cotton floral / calico print dress. Over her dress is a sheer white cotton voile apron tied in back. Her hands were originally made of black felt; she is missing most of the
    the right hand
    felt
(this hand could easily be replaced)
. On her head she wears a yellow cloth bandana / headscarf.
The tea bell has no manufacturer's mark.
Its ring is loud and clear.
This is in exceptionally fine vintage condition, p
erfect for the collector of both Southern Americana and Black / African Americana memorabilia.
In the Deep South of the US (and possible elsewhere) in the early 20th century
, these bells were often sold as souvenirs, sometimes with the name of the city a tourist was visiting printed on them. (The Hollander Novelty Co. in Baton Rouge, LA was one company that produced them.) Will ship USPS First Class package with added insurance.
Please examine photos and ask seller any questions you have before buying.
