Description
I am selling the English Mk.II military helmet shown in the pictures with the hand-painted emblem of the Royal Artillery. The liner of the helmet is 1942 dated. I don't see manufacturer's markings on the shell because of the coats of paints.R. Spencer C. Copeland (1918-2002) joined the Royal Artillery in 1940. He took part in the Normandy landings on the Sword beach in 1944, liberation of Caen in France, and participated in the liberation of Brussels.
R. Spencer C. Copeland was the son of East Copeland. Ida Copeland donated the Trelissick Manor with its gardens to the National Trust in 1955. Artillery Officer R. Spencer C. Copeland was one of the last leaders of the 130-year-old Copeland porcelain factory and has written at least one book on Copeland British porcelain.
In October 2013, a British dealer sold the military legacy of R. Spencer C. Copeland on UK eBay. On sale was Copeland's second helmet with his name, artillery uniforms, and two large equipment boxes that read "R. Spencer C. Copeland, Bishops Offley Manor, Eccleshall, Staffs." Staffs is likely to mean Staffordshire, since R. Spencer C. Copeland was born in 1918 in Tittenshor, Staffordshire. I bought this better-off Copeland pot from the time of the Normandy landings. There is no name on the helmet, but it was used by this gentleman. I am shipping this helmet from Finland (EU) and shipping will be for this great SWORD-beach landed RA helmet.
If you are living in the UK or EU, please use German eBay, so you will get right shipping fees (around ).
